- The Fullwrite 1.5s and 1.6 to 1.7 converters are now on sumex-aim. You
- have to call Akimbo for earlier versions.
-
- As well as the above upgrade to make FullWrite compatible with the 040
- cache (and System 7 for 1.5s) there are a couple of other tips, including
- one to make it work with the LaserWriter 8.0. Again, these are from AOL.
-
- Akimbo's e-mail is fullwrite@aol.com.

- LaserWriter 8.0 Compatibility
-
- The current version of FullWrite has an incompatibility with the new
- LaserWriter 8.0 driver. The problem occurs because FullWrite sends custom
- PostScript code when printing to a PostScript code in order to get higher
- quality printing. Evidently, this code is incompatible with LaserWriter
- 8.0. There is a small patch that can be applied to FullWrite which will
- disable all of the custom PostScript code. This will provide compatibility
- with the LaserWriter 8.0 driver at the expense of lower printing quality.
- If you don't need version 8.0 of the LaserWriter driver, consider using the
- old driver until FullWrite 2 ships. You can also have both drivers
- installed on your disk and switch between them as necessary.
-
- If you must use LaserWriter 8.0, here's how to apply the patch:
- 1. Make a backup copy of your FullWrite application.
- 2. Open FullWrite using ResEdit.
- 3. Open the PSET 512 resource in FullWrite. This will look like:
- 0032 0000 0001 0000
- 0000 0000 0000 ...
- 4. Change bytes 09-0C so that it looks like:
- 0032 0000 0001 0000
- 0000 0001 FFFD ...
- 5. Save FullWrite and quit ResEdit.
- 5. Make sure you have no unsaved files in any open applications.
- 6. Double-click on the patched copy of FullWrite.
- 7. Print to verify the correct application of the patch.
- 8. Discard your backup copy of FullWrite.
-
- This patch is guaranteed to work with FullWrite 1.5s. It should work with
- all versions of FullWrite: 1.0, 1.1, 1.5 and 1.5s.

-
- Utilities that Modify Menu Items
-
- FullWrite uses a special menu manager which causes an incompatibility with
- utilities which modify the File menu when you hold down special keys. If
- you try this in FullWrite, you'll discover that the File menu doesn't
- change.
-
- Examples of such utilities include the Apple fax software, the Global
- Village fax software, and Super Boomerang.
-
- Fortunately, there's an easy workaround. Press the mouse button down while
- the mouse is over the Apple icon in the menu bar (holding down the
- appropriate keys), then drag over to the File menu and you'll find that the
- appropriate items have changed. Contrary to what the vendors of these
- utilities say, the keys that you use don't matter -- you can use the
- standard modifier keys as long as you click on the Apple icon first.
-
- This problem will be fixed in FullWrite 2.

- Subj: Pull-down menu bug? 93-10-02 12:25:56 EDT
- From: Mike Weave
-
- It seems that when I pull down the menu via the keyboard, and then by
- chance clik on the document itself with the menu still down, the
- application bombs. This includes all pull-down menus using system 7.1. Is
- anyone else experiencing this bug/bomb? (I have tried this with both
- FullWrite 1.5s and 1.7, with the same results).
